1. I found kraft paper at my local Jo-Ann’s, but you can also order it online HERE. I manually cut sheets into the trading card 2.5" x 3.5" size. Students used the side of a paperless crayon to rub just around the edges of each card. My sample cards were rubbed with a brown and gray crayon for an aged effect.
2. Students looked at a sheet of sample fossil drawings that you can download HERE, and drew directly on the paper. Try buying markers with both fine and medium tips so drawings may be made with both thick and thin lines. I used white Sharpie markers like THESE.
3. My kids keep their cards in plastic sheets, which stay in a 3-ring binder. They fill a new sheet each class, and seem to love watching their book grow.
