Former Provincial Council Member Amal Silva and an employee of the Moratuwa Municipal Council have been arrested over the violence reported in Colombo last Monday (9). The arrested suspects were ordered to be remanded till today (18) by Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage yesterday.

Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage berated the Criminal Investigation Department for failing to produce the two suspects who were arrested in connection with the attack on the peaceful protest at Galle Face and opposite the Temple Trees on May 9, before Court on time.

The Magistrate left Court at around 4 pm after criticising the CID for not informing him that two suspects would be produced before Court.
