Local aviation fans are quite happy that San Carlos was once again a stop for the Experimental Aircraft Association’s Ford Tri-Motor Tour. The tour offers a rare opportunity to fly in an authentic Ford Tri-Motor, America’s first mass produced airliner. This particular aircraft was delivered in 1929 and was used to introduce coast-to-coast air/rail service. This aircraft has gone through a variety of owners and operators in the U.S. and Central America. A Mexican owner had the trademark corrugated skin replaced with smooth skin which was later re-installed at great expense by William Harrah. Nikon D7100 w/Tokina 10-17 mm, processed with Aperture.
