For You Australia, I Sing Your National Anthem with Pride.

Today is Australia Day. In the past year of living here, Australia has been nothing but amazing and welcoming to us as immigrants from another country. Having also stayed here ten years ago when I was pursuing my tertiary education at Murdoch College and UWA, I am grateful to be able to return to this beautiful country to start a new journey in life with my family.
Australia is such a beautiful country, that includes the people, culture and environment. I remember being worried about the "white Australia" phenomenon during my student years, but until now, I've never once experience any racial or cultural bullying. In fact, my Aussie friends would always have their weekend barbie at the local park and I'd crash it if I was free, that was how welcoming they made me feel. Undoubtedly there will be immigrants who've had negative experience with some locals, but in my opinion most Australians are usually friendly and welcoming. Most Australians I know embrace cultural diversity and friendship, and they are more than willing to offer a hand when it comes to helping me settle into this country. In more ways than one, the people are the reason I fall in love with this country more and more everyday.
Another reason that I love Australia for is the great outdoors and ample family friendly parks. Coming from Asia, clean and safe parks are close to none. So it was awesome when my family migrated over, and my little two year old would be roaming freely and happily at the local playground park every evening. It is pure joy to be able to witness the freedom and happiness that children experience when they get to play outdoors. Childhood is about playing outdoors and getting your hands and feet covered in dirt. Unfortunately, children from where I come from do not have this simple luxury. For that, I am grateful that my daughter is able to experience childhood in Australia. Hopefully she will grow up to appreciate the fact that she has such a beautiful country to call home.
To celebrate this special day, we decided to spend the day with a close friend and her family at the Sir James Mitchell Park in South Perth.

Happy National Day, Australia! I'm proud to have called Australia home for the past year or so, and I hope to be able to do so for many more years to come. For you, Australia, I sing your national anthem with pride.
Australians all let us rejoice, For we are young and free. We've golden soil and wealth for toil, Our earth is girt by sea.Our lands abound in nature's gift, Of beauty rich and rare.In history's page let every stage, Advance Australia Fair.In joyful strains then let us sing,Advance Australia Fair.
