Spanish fun in the Merchant City at Arta
We sent our newest recruit along to Arta to check out their Spanish Afternoon Tea.
Claudio greeted us and offered a chilled glass of cava with a fresh raspberry garnish. Went down very smoothly indeed….not a clawing perry at all. Good at £5.95 a glass.
The afternoon tea itself comes in Classic (ie with tea/coffee) or Cocktail (ie also with a teapot of Hendricks gin Pink Lady cocktail). The prices are £15.95 & £21.95 respectively. Super value for the fayre on offer!
Unlike most afternoon teas in town, the Arta version comes with a hot skewer, as opposed to cold sandwiches.
The ‘tea’ consists of the following savoury items:
Chicken skewer, Chorizo and pepper skewer, Spanish omelet squares, Cheese wrapped in Parma ham and a shot of spicy Gazpacheo topped with a melon ball. All dishes are full of flavor and just the right portion size.
Then there is a superb little palate cleanser of orange slices soaked in Sangria. (*mouth-watering just remembering that!).
The sweet selection (*again here with the mouth watering!)….had the obligatory scone with cream and jam ….BUT the twist here was that the cream was not ‘skooshy’ or clotted, it was a little quinnelle cinnamon flavoured manna from heaven! The jam was fruity goodness too. It made for one of the best scones I’ve ever tasted…..my friend exclaimed “it tastes of Christmas!”. There was also orange sponge (*which even got some leftover cream treatment), and 2 big churros nestling in a dark chocolate sauce.
Availability for this tea is
Thursday & Friday: 5pm and 6pm sittings
Sat all day
It is highly popular with large groups such as hen parties etc and booking is recommended.
The teas are served in the courtyard or the upper restaurant and the decor throughout is beautiful and very reminiscent of the Mediterranean.
Arta is located at 62 Albion St in the Merchant City area of Glasgow.Twitter and Facebook.
This was a blogger event to showcase the Spanish Afternoon Tea at Arta. Fred confirms that Abeline was truthful, as she would never tell you any rubbish. Purr Purr
