Food Review: Nando’s, Silverburn, Glasgow

By Emma @glasgowfoodie

Is Nando's still..."cheeky"?

Mr C popped along to Nando's at Silverburn, Pollok, in Glasgow's southside for a quick bite to eat before going to the cinema.

We arrived at the restaurant about 5.30pm. It was busy, but not as jam-packed as we thought it would be, considering it was a Friday evening.

We were welcomed pretty quickly, in the usual Nando's fashion by cheery (not cheeky!) staff. After the customary advice on the workings of the place, we perused the menu, not before ordering 2 large Pinot Grigios - we decided to pass on the soft drinks option...well it was Friday!

My foodie partner decided to go for the Peri-Peri Double Chicken Pitta, medium sauce, with regular chips and coleslaw.

I went for the the Double Chicken with medium sauce too, but plumped for the burger instead of the pitta. My sides were regular peri chips, and garlic bread.

Having both been to Nando's previously, we knew what to expect. The chicken was nicely moist and tender, with a good little kick from the medium sauce. The Big J enjoyed her coleslaw and chips, and I made light work of my peri chips and garlic bread. As expected, both plates were completely cleared pretty quickly, the wine soothing the heat of sauce perfectly.

Everything about our visit was as expected. Friendly, cheery, courteous staff, tasty well-cooked food served quickly. We'll definitely be back.

PS I said earlier that it wasn't jam-packed for a Friday...we got in at just the right time, as quite a few groups of diners arrived not long after us, only to be told that there would be a 15-min wait. Cheeky!
