Located on Battersea Bridge Road is the brightly coloured pizza place, Bunga Bunga. You really can’t miss the Italian flag painted exterior and the beauty simply carries on inside. With scooters and bikes hanging from the ceiling alongside handbags for light shades mixed between Italian flags, this place is seriously cool. Although 45 minutes late for our reservation (DAMN YOU UBER!), we were welcomed with the most friendliest of faces and shown to our table, also Italian flag decorated. Amazing.
As you looked around the venue, it was a sea of smiles and laughter, this isn’t a poncy place, it’s a breath of fresh air. Our server, Thomas, repped the brand incredibly and treat us like Northern Queens. We were first shown the cocktail menu and obviously, I opted for my staple of an Amaretto Sour, as that’s how I judge a place’s cocktails, and lemme tell you. Spot. On. It had the right amount of alcohol and the right amount of tang – perfect. After, I chose a Peach Bellini, because I can't seem to go anywhere without getting one of those now either...
For starters, we opted for some Bruschetta and Polenta Fries as we were ready to go with grumbling bellies. The parmigiano topped fries were delicious, so light and airy but full of flavor. I know you’ll be sat there thinking, ‘Megan, but they’re just chips?’ No. No, they were not! We then awaited the main course, the show-stopping double-whammy pizza. Baked on the same base and to perfection were mine and Carli’s pizzas, with the toppings of our choice. I opted for the Ruby Loves, a meaty option with spicy sausage and salami, whilst Carli chose Bambino de Diego, Carbonara on a pizza! We lapped it up until our tummies could take no more but what we did eat was delicious. The sausage on mine was spicy, and the meat was so thick and fantastic quality – no expense spared here! The dough was the perfect thickness to embody everything that is a proper Italian pizza.
Unfortunately, we didn’t have time for dessert as we had to dash off (it would have probs been just as awesome, though!) to watch The Last Leg live. That is another story for another time, let’s just say it ended in the Season Wrap Party over-looking the Thames with lots of champagne…
