Food : 5 Recipes with.....Pears

I thought I'd start another new blog series, this time about food....taking one ingredient & finding five different ways to use it.
The pear tree in our garden is heavy with fruit right now, I think they must be a week or so away from being ready to eat....pears seem a good a food as any to begin the series with.....
1. Almond Pear Cake (gluten free)lots of recipes for this around but this one looked really good.....almond meal, sliced almonds & pear puree combine to make a very moist cake.
2.  Chai Pear & Chocolate TartI think this dessert looks fabulously original, perfect for a dinner party....& the recipe itself sounds wonderful....plenty of spices, dark chocolate & white wine amongst other things.The pears are soaked in chai....yum!
3. Roasted Pear & Chocolate Chunk SconesI love scones....there's something so simple & heartwarming about them, they're perfect for tea-time, for a coffee morning or after school. And, dare I say it, you can't really go wrong when baking scones! This recipe from the Smitten Kitchen blog sounds delicious, I'm definitely going to try these.
4. Focaccia with Caramelized Onions, Blue Cheese & PearsI am salivating just looking at this image....I love caramelised onions. I love blue cheese. And I love focaccia. Such a great sweet & savoury combination.Putting them all together = heaven!In this recipe, Jenna from Eat, Live, Run makes the whole recipe, including making your own focaccia sound really easy. Definitely worth a try!
5. Kale, Spinach & Pear SmoothieA simple, healthy & very delicious green juice....kale, spinach & pear smoothie with almond (or soy) milk & honey.This recipe comes from Joy the Baker.
