The band just released the studio version of the track ‘What Did I Do? / God as My Witness,’ which features the talents of rising guitar hero Gary Clark Jr. The track was recorded during the band’s visit to explore the Austin, Texas music scene for a recording on the ‘Sonic Highways’ album. The song is a more catchy track for the band and with Clark joining in on the fun, it’s definitely a more guitar-driven song. Check it out in the player below.
The second new song to arrive online is called ‘Outside.’ It premiered during an in-studio session at the BBC and a radio rip can now be found online. The song features some killer opening bass from Nate Mendel before entering hypnotic music territory. The track was written when the band visited Rancho De La Luna Studios in the Joshua Tree, Calif. desert for a session that included Joe Walsh and Masters of Reality pal Chris Goss. Check out ‘Outside’ in the player provided below.
As stated, both songs appear on the ‘Sonic Highways’ album, which will be released on Monday (Nov. 10). You can currently pre-order the disc via iTunes and Amazon. The tracks follow the previously previewed ‘Something From Nothing,’ ‘The Feast and the Famine‘ and ‘Congregation.’
In other Foo Fighters news, the band was planning a big Austin bash this evening to coincide with the Austin episode of their ‘Sonic Highways’ HBO series. However, according to a posting on the band’s website, the group has decided to postpone the appearance due to a family matter with one of the band’s members. In addition to the planned ‘Sonic Highways’ screening, the group was scheduled to tape an appearance for the long-running PBS series, ‘Austin City Limits.’ Foo Fighters apologized for the inconvenience, but have already revealed they intend to return on Thursday, Nov. 20 to make up for it and that all passes for the original engagement will be honored.
