Floyd Bennett Field.

we went camping at an abandoned airport in brooklyn- historic floyd bennett field where amelia earhart and  howard hughes once flew. now bramble covered and in decay. the parks service rents camp sights on the grounds for $20.00 a night!  between two bays, close to the ocean, in one direction is coney island, the other far rockaway beach.  during the day it was still warm enough to swim!
