Florence and Pisa, Italy

By Youngandcraftysisters

The next morning we took a train from Florence to Venice. This was our first time using our Eurorail pass and we sort of flubbed it up! We didn’t realize that you had to book the fast trains in advance. Well it was definitely full. So we took several connecting trains rather than wait for the next high speed train. Needless to say, as soon as we got to the train station in Florence we booked our high speed train to Naples!

I don’t really know what I was expecting from Florence but I loved this city and could have spent longer there.

This is the Duomo. The entire church is covered in marble and absolutely breathtaking.

After checking into our hotel we went for an early dinner because we had only eaten breakfast. It was about 3 or 4 before we ate and we devoured those pizzas!

The next morning we went on a bike tour. Here is another shot of the Duomo. The bike tour was a highlight of our trip in Florence!

The Ponte Vecchio River.

Galileo is buried here.

Michelangelo is buried here.

This is a shot of the Duomo dome. We walked up all the stairs to the top.

As soon as we got to the top of the dome, it was raining! It only rained for a few minutes and then we got to enjoy the view.

Later that evening we decided to take an hour train ride into Pisa. We are both so glad we did!

We had a picnic on the lawn of the church. Pisa is the bell tower for the church. Our picnic included bread, cheese, salami, and proseco.

Then the fun Pisa pictures began!

And the last one is our bloopers!

Next stop is Sorrento!
