Five adventurous women are currently taking on the challenge of rowing across the Atlantic Ocean; 3,000 miles in just 40 days! Having left the Canary islands on the 7th of December they are going strong and hoping to break the double World Record for the first female team to row across the Atlantic Ocean in the fastest time ever recorded, the current record standing at 49 days.
Julia Immonen, Debbie Beadle, Katie Pattison-Hart, Kate Richardson and Helen Leigh aim to raise over £1 million for the charities ECPAT UK and the A21 Campaign, two charities fighting to support those who have fallen victim to human trafficking.
In 2 hour slots the crew will be rowing constantly for 24 hours a day from dry land to dry land, their target point is Port Charles in sunny Barbados where they expect to be by the middle of this month. As of yesterday the crew have 929 miles to go, a huge distance but they are on the home straight!
