It's quite normal to find a new trend unattractive. It's different, new to the eye, it takes a second for the trend to settle in. Of course, this isn't always the case. There are many trends that hang around and are never embraced (hello, cold shoulders.) The acceptance of a trend is also highly personal; what it attractive to one is atrocious to another.
Admittedly, there have been many trends that I swore I would never wear, only to come around to them eventually. Therefore, I'm not willing to say I will never, ever wear v-cut pumps, this new-ish shoe trend style with sharp toes and a deep V shape. However, I will say right now I'm not on board. I just can't get into a pair of shoes that look like they are swallowing the feet whole. From a practicality standpoint, I can see how some of these v-cut styles can offer greater instep support. This could be a benefit for many.
What I have found helpful in the past is to do a five fashionable ways post on a trend I'm not entirely sure of yet. Instead of seeing the trend as a standalone thing, I can visualize how it would look in an outfit. Perhaps this will help you too.
Five Ways to Wear V-Cut Pumps
Considering a pair of v-cut pumps? Check out the five different ways I styled them using this style from Vince Camuto.
Outfit #1
My first thought was to style these shoes with a dress to add some trendy flair to a more classic look. I styled the v-cut pumps with an ivory dress from L.K. Bennett and finished the outfit with a Bottega Veneta bag in dark cement and a statement necklace from Pono.
Outfit #2
Next, I styled the v-cut pumps with a pair of wide leg cropped jeans for a dressy casual look. The high waist jeans are by MOTHER and I added this simple wrap sweater in ivory from Leith. I finished the look with a necklace from Stella & Dot and handbag from Sole Society.
Outfit #3
This next look using v-cut pumps is a summer office look. I styled the pants with a pair of ankle length pants in khaki from L.K. Bennett a bright orange top from BOSS Hugo Boss and white blazer from Rag & Bone. I finished the outfit with a pair of gold novelty hoop earrings from Rebecca Minkoff and cognac bag from Tod's.
Outfit #4
V-cut pumps will even work with a jumpsuit. I like the way the olive adds a subtle pop to this all navy look. The jumpsuit is from Tahari and I finished the outfit with a navy handbag from A.P.C. and simple gold necklace from Panacea.
Outfit #5
This last look takes v-cut pumps into early fall with a darker, richer look. The pieces of the all black base of pants and a simple crew are from Theory, I layered this rich cognac leather jacket from Vince, added a printed scarf from Jonny Was and finished the look with gold disc earrings from Halogen and olive bag from Chloé.
