Five Ways to Style a Sweater Blazer

By Bridgetteraes @BridgetteRaes

At the request of many, I have decided to bring back my One Item, Five Fashionable Ways series that showcases multiple ways to wear one item in your closet. I am kicking this off again by featuring a sweater blazer from J. Crew.

Sweater blazers can be incredibly useful items to own, particularly considering the workplace has gotten more casual. They're more polished than a cardigan while being a bit more relaxed looking. Sweater blazers can also be worn on the weekend as a light jacket or topper piece. Let's take a look at the five ways I styled this one piece.

Five Ways to Style a Sweater Blazer

Outfit #1

I styled this first outfit for work by using the cardigan to give this basic shirt and tailored pants some finish. The plum shirt is my favorite button down style from BOSS Hugo Boss. The placket is fake and there are side zips to give this top great shape and no gaping. I styled it with these basic black pants from Theory. I accessorized using a pair of tan block heel pumps from Marc Fisher, Longchamp tote and pendant from Stella & Dot.

Outfit #2

Taking this sweater blazer to the weekend, I created this chic, casual look by layering a basic grey turtleneck from Majestic Filatures underneath it and styling the outfit with jeans. I finished the outfit with a pair of cognac boots by Frye, a scarf from Chan Luu, a burgundy crossbody bag from Madewell and Monica Vinader earrings.

Outfit #3

This next work look is a bit funkier and more fashion forward. I styled the sweater blazer with a black leather pencil skirt and chambray shirt from J. Crew. I finished the look with a pair of black booties from Treasure and Bond, black opaque tights, a leopard belt from Halogen, cognac bag from Lodis and layered necklace from Topshop.

Outfit #4

Moving this sweater blazer to spring looks, I layered this style over a red and white striped Breton from Banana Republic that I styled with white jeans from Madewell and finished with blue slip on sneakers from Frye, cognac bag from See by Chloe and Treasure and Bond hoop earrings.

Outfit #5

Sweater blazers might be classic in appearance but they aren't limited to classic outfits. Here I created a more updated look with the J. Crew style using these burnt orange wide leg crop pants and white top from Banana Republic. I finished the outfit with a pair of platform sandals from Steve Madden, horn link necklace and Celine Lefebure bucket bag.
