Five Fabulous Honeymoon Destinations In The U.S.

By Remielund @remsluxuryblog

So, now that I’m engaged, you’ll be seeing a few wedding related posts on the blog. My Pinterest board is overflowing with images of fairytale dresses and shoes but one of the things I’m most excited about is planning the Honeymoon. When looking for honeymoon destinations, my first thought was to head for one of two things: sun and/or luxury! Tropical destinations are of course very popular for honeymoons while high end suites and resorts in major urban destinations are frequented as well. But not too many couples get around to thinking they should look into the United States for honeymoon options.

This is not at all to suggest that more conventional options—the Caribbean, a hotel suite in Paris, the Greek isles, etc.—should not be explored. But if you are a bride to be like me, make sure you look into all your options. The USA  is bursting with beautiful honeymoon destinations but I’ve managed to narrow it down to five.

Miami and South Beach (Florida)

If you like the sun of the tropics mixed with the luxury of a high-end resort, Miami is a destination well worth considering. I’ve visited Miami twice before and the beaches are breathtaking. While it has a bit of a reputation as a party city (and the nightlife is certainly very active), a honeymoon in Miami can be anything you want it to be. Spend your time in the resort, out on the beach, at a seaside restaurant, shopping, or out at the clubs—it’s up to you!

Nappa Valley

If you’re looking for a tranquil honeymoon, California’s Napa Valley may be just the place. For starters, it’s one of the best wine producing regions on the planet, and nothing suits a honeymoon quite like a few wine tastings! Additionally, this is a beautiful region with comfortable hotels, renowned spas, and outdoor activities like golf, hiking, etc. that can be enjoyed as a couple.

Las Vegas

If you read my blog regularly, you’ll know just how much I love Vegas. Vegas is a bit like Miami in that it may seem like a constant party, but it can be taken in several different ways. The tricky part is simply finding out where to stay! Dialaflight.com is a popular travel resource that can provide assistance here, because it lists and provides details for various resorts in the area with competitive pricing. They also offer tips for where to go once you find where you’ll stay. And after you do that, you can visit and enjoy Sin City your way, even if that means a week’s worth of couples’ massages.

Lake Tahoe (California and Nevada)

If you truly want to get away as a couple, Lake Tahoe in the western U.S. is a fantastic option. If your honeymoon occurs during the winter, you could go skiing as a couple in this region. But if it’s during the summer, consider renting a lakeside house or “villa” together and simply relaxing with some of the most beautiful nature to be found in the Americas.

Martha’s Vineyard (Massachusetts)

This island off Cape Cod will make you feel as if you’re having both a luxurious and a natural honeymoon at the same time. A cottage at Martha’s Vineyard will expose you to a wonderful historical (if noticeably affluent) atmosphere. Then you can enjoy the picture-perfect beaches, renowned sunsets, and world-class seafood!
