I have enjoyed every second of watching my little boy grow, finding his hands, feet and rather more recently his willy (nappy changing has become quite an experience!). We interact and play with him every day but I do feel he's learnt a lot himself and at his own pace. Although it's been quite difficult, I've stopped reading about what he SHOULD be doing at what week or month and concentrated on watching him learn and grow into a lovely little man (yes I'm biased, but I dare you to tell me he's not a little cutie).
Fisher-Price, leading infant and pre-school brand, has launched ‘Discover Your Way’, a celebration of all the wonderful and different ways that children like to play helping them to develop happily at their own natural pace.Fisher-Price® knows that children are happiest developing at their own natural pace, creating products perfectly-designed to feed children’s natural curiosity, encourage exploration, stimulate imagination and facilitate discovery through play, to help babies learn and grow their way.Fisher Price know that discovery starts with your newborn discovering their fingers and toes, and continues as they grow from baby to toddler, from toddler to pre-schooler and beyond …. it isn’t simply about reaching traditional developmental milestones. Learning comes through fun, experimentation, natural inquisitiveness. This is why Fisher Price toys unlock everyday discoveries through play to help your baby develop happily at their own natural pace. It’s these personal moments of discovery that help your baby learn and grow their way.
I sometimes think there are too many milestones and targets that babies are expected to hit at certain times. These mile stones deemed appropriate by those who are so called 'experts', but surely each and every baby is unique?!

If you've read my previous blog posts you'll realize we're big fans of Fisher Price toys and it's rather exciting to see that they understand that babies develop at their own pace and I look forward to hearing more about 'Discover Your Way' in the media and purchasing some of their more sensory and tactile toys to encourage him to learn further.
