Walter Salles’ adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s, On the Road, finally has a trailer and I wonder what took so long. The project has been touch and go for a lot of years, but this might be a worthy adaptation. The movie chronicles the life-changing odyssey of an aspiring New York writer (Sam Riley) and a wild, highly charismatic ex-con (Garrett Hedlund) as they travel across mid-century America.
The supporting cast includes Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen, Terrence Howard and Amy Adams. A fine menagerie of actors than anyone could possibly ask for. It just remains to be seen whether Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley and Kristen Stewart can hold the attention of the audience. The film doesn’t have a distribution deal yet, but the general consensus would be sometime this Fall.
Check out the trailer, poster, and synopsis below:
After the death of his father, Sal Paradise, an aspiring New York writer, meets Dean Moriarty, a wild and infectiously charismatic ex-con. They hit it off immediately. Determined to avoid the pitfalls of a narrow, prescribed life, Sal hits the road, joining Dean on what evolves into a life-changing physical and emotional odyssey. Thirsting for freedom, they discover the world, the ecstasy of experience, the connectedness of humanity and ultimately themselves.
