I first heard it from James Taylor during an concert back in 1991--who told us in the audience that it was something he heard his father chant every springtime--before launching into his wonderful little gem, "First of May." I later learned that Jonathan Coulter used the rhyme in a much more explicit fashion in his same-titled song, and much earlier, and in a much of genteel and nostalgic vein, the Bee Gees made use of it too. But for now, why not go with a big production number?
