First Look: Amantia, Birmingham

By Thefoodiecoupleblog

Amantia is a newly opened family run Spanish and Mediterranean restaurant right in the heart of Birmingham city center in the iconic Sun House on Bennetts Hill. Owned and run by couple Andrea and Marta, it is the result of many years of hard work in the catering sector in Birmingham and they have finally taken a gamble on their own place.

The menu is full of Spanish and Mediterranean classics from tapas to bigger plates, and there is even talk of Paella nights in the future, something that I would love! Myself and some other Birmingham food bloggers were invited along to their launch night last week to see what they were all about and try out some of the food and drink.

We enjoyed free flowing Sangria, as well as some samples from their tapas section and I for one am looking forward to going back for a proper meal to really try it out properly. Here’s a quick first look at some of the things we tried.

Broad Bean Nibbles

Salted Almonds

Sangria

Cured Meats – Chorizo, Serrano ham, lomo, salchichon, cheeses and Tortilla de Patata (potato omlette)

Blue cheese & Truffle Croquettas

Tuna Croquettas

Dates wrapped in Proscuitto

Mussels in a Cheesy Sauce

Delicias de Morcilla: Puff pastry filled with black pudding goats cheese, caramelised onions and apple marmalade

Have a look at their website to find out more and discover the rest of their menu!

Disclosure: I was invited to the launch party to find out what Amantia was all about. The food and drink was complimentary. I wasn’t asked or expected to write about the event, but as a food blogger it’s my job to share it with you!
