111 by Nico birthday celebration
We had ventured along to 111 by Nico for their Monday Taste Club, so when an email came through regarding a special birthday menu for 111 by Nico Mrs Foodie jumped in (it was also her birthday so double excuse to go)
Two newbies came along to celebrate after listening to Mrs Foodie go on about her previous meal.
At £20 for three courses and a glass of fizz, 111 by Nico is certainly up there in the value for money stakes.
A warming Amuse Bouche of mushroom soup was served. Ideal for today's "Scottish summer " weather. Creamy and a very strong mushroom taste.
Summer vegetables with goats cheese, walnuts, plum ketchup and balsamic. Blanched vegetables with just the right amount of sweetness for the goat's cheese and tart and earthy plum ketchup.
An exotic concoction here, smokey and curry hints. Stone bass with a crispy skin, sweet potato purée and a Thai sauce. This was my favourite dish.
'
Ayrshire pork belly with smoked ham Hough, apricot, beetroot, and hazelnut. Sweet and earthy tastes again here. A powerful dish after two lighter ones. Meaty, crisp and strong flavours.
Once again extremely impressed with 111 by Nico and a worthy venue for a birthday meal.
Heres to more visits! (Which no doubt there will be as Mrs Foodie converted two more to visiting again)
