California-based folk rockers Dawes headlined SummerStage with the support of Swedish folk duo First Aid Kit and Canadian artist Andy Shauf in Central Park. Fist Aid Kit opened the set with “Lion’s Roar”, and followed with tunes from their 2014 album Stay Gold. The sisters’ set also included two covers — “America” by Simon and Garfunkel and a surprising cover of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs”. During their encore, Dawes’ frontman Taylor Goldsmith actually joined them on stage on guitar and vocals for “King of The World”.

Dawes then returned to SummerStage for their second year (they supported Conor Oberst last summer). The four-piece band kicked off the night with “Things Happen”, the first single off their fourth full-length album, All Your Favorite Bands. Dawes then proceeded to emphatically play out tunes from their four LPs, ending the show with the title track from All Your Favorite Bands.
