Weekend fires cause alarm in the county, Domestic violence suspect sought after he tries to flee scene and remove police officer’s weapon.
Between Friday and Saturday, fires in District Heights, Accokeek, Upper Marlboro, Oxon Hill, and College Park caused extensive damages. Most were caused by the use of space heaters, faulty fireplaces and electrical wiring.

Two Prince George’s County police officers were dispatched to the 2600 of Keating Place in Temple Hills to respond to a report of domestic violence. The officers observed 30 year-old Joseph Andoh Quarm attempting to leave the residence. Officers attempted to question him, but Quarm threw a punch at one of the patrol officers and fled on foot towards his parked car nearby. Attempts were made to apprehend Quarm as he continued to resist arrest. Officer used pepper spray and a a Taser on the suspect. Quarm then attempted to remove one of the patrol officers gun from his holstered. The officer’s partner shot at the suspect but is unsure if the suspect, who fled the scene, was hit.
