Firefox OS Gets Updated to 1.3, Ships with ZTE’s New $100 Smartphone Open C

New update brings WebGL, asm.js and WebAudio to Firefox OS, allowing mobile game developers to make better games for this open source platform. In addition, there are several other improvements to the OS, which brings Dual-SIM capabilities, sharper images and videos capturing, improved graphics for gaming, direct access to music, more messaging options, performance improvements and much more.


CNET reports that Mozilla is already working to bring several popular Android, iOS games to its Firefox platform with the help from WebGL, asm.js technologies. “Where’s My Water” is the latest title in works for Firefox OS.

Mozilla has already sent out the new update to all of its mobile partners and ZTE was the first to launch a new phone supporting this new OS update. ZTE Open C, the 4-incher comes packed with an 1.2GHz dual core CPU, 512MB of RAM, 3MP camera and Firefox OS 1.3 for just $99.99. The phone is now available to purchase exclusively on eBay and is shipping to US, UK and several other European countries.
