The Arvada Fire Protection District will hold an Assessment Center to test for Firefighter Paramedics the week of June 11, 2018 with interviews on June 28 & 29. Top candidates will be offered a position to start fire academy on August 6th. A hiring list of qualified candidates will also be created.

Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered candidates must possess:
- Current State of Colorado Paramedic Certification – OR – National Registry Paramedic Certification
- Current ACLS and CPR
- CPAT Certificate valid through July 2018
- Drivers’ License and acceptable driving record

Arvada Fire Protection District is hiring for Firefighter/Paramedics. This position requires FireTEAM and a valid CPAT. All testing must be completed by May 12th, 2018.
The department requires the candidate PHQ. You can access the questionnaire through your candidate account. The PHQ must be completed by the closing date or you may not be considered further in the process. Candidates invited to the next step will be sent the application packet from AFPD.
Salary Information: $21.76/hour – $63,378.00/annual

Department Overview: The Arvada Fire Protection District (AFPD) has a rich history spanning over 100 years of service starting in 1911 as a volunteer department in the town of Arvada. By 1999 it was the largest all volunteer fire department east of the Mississippi. In 1999 it hired its first career firefighters and chief and by January 2000 six of its eight stations were staffed by career firefighters. Now an internationally accredited and predominately career organization, it still maintains its family feel and commitment to change and service excellence. The AFPD’s 160 responders provide advanced life support, medical transport, fire, rescue, and hazardous materials services from eight stations, eight front line fire trucks, and five modern ambulances. Organized into two battalions line staff work a 48/96 shift to provide service to the community every hour of every day. Responding to over 15,000 calls for service in 2017 the AFPD it is dedicated to responder safety, modern response equipment, training, and technology. The AFPD is committed to community risk reduction through community education and code enforcement.
Area Information: Situated and bordering the northwest corner of Denver, CO, the AFPD protects approximately 43 square miles and a population of approximately 120,000 in the communities of Arvada, Wheat Ridge, and unincorporated areas of Jefferson County. The district has remarkable views of the mountains, a lively old town area, and quick access to all the amenities in the Denver metro area. The area has a rich geographic diversity that includes urban, rural, residential, and commercial areas.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
- At least 18 years of age
- Valid CPAT certification good through 7/31/2018
- Drivers’ license with acceptable driving record
- Current National Registry or State of Colorado Paramedic Certification

Hiring Process:
We will invite candidates with passing FireTeam test scores to an Assessment Center process by May 22nd. The Assessment Center will be the week of June 11th. Candidates from this process may be invited to final interviews June 28 & 29.

Felony, Criminal Activity Disqualifiers: Criminal convictions of crimes against persons or property may disqualify a candidate.
Driving Disqualifiers: DUI within past 5 years
Drug Use Disqualifiers: Illegal drug use.
