ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Performs wildland fire duties including hand-line construction, water handling, general and aerial suppression support.
- Performs fire mitigation activities and training.
- Maintains accurate maintenance record books for support vehicle.
- Completes accurate Crew Time Reports (CTR) daily as requested by supervisor.
- Performs general facility and compound duties.
- Performs other duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be age 18 and possess a High school diploma or equivalent at time of hire.
- One or more seasons as a Fire Fighter two (FFT2) or equivalent preferred.
- Must be willing and capable of performing strenuous outdoor work safely and productively.
- Must be accepting of direction and act responsibly.
- Must act promptly and with good judgment in emergencies.
- Must interact tactfully with the public.
- Must pass the EPSO work capacity test or “pack” test at the arduous level during the selection process and prior to starting work.
- To pass at the arduous fitness level individual must complete a 3-mile hike with a 45lb pack in 45 minutes. The test is Pass/Fail only. Failure to pass will disqualify candidates for employment in these positions.
- Some positions may be subject to pre-employment drug testing and/or require the ability to operate a manual transmission fire truck.
- Must reside within a short commute of their crew assembly point which is typically considered to be within 35 miles or an equivalently reasonable commute time.
- Must have reliable personal transportation.
- Applicant must pass background investigation, Computerized Voice Stress Analysis (CVSA) examination, phsyical examination and drug screen prior to employment.
- NWCG Fire Fighter 2 FFT2.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
- An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the education and experience requirements above.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES:
- Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver’s License and have two years of driving experience.
- Must provide all documents pertaining to fire training, including but not limited to training records, certificates, IQS/IQCS Master Record, Incident Qualification Card(s), and task books.
Required at time of Work Capacity Testing:
- Certificate of course completion for IS-700 and I-100.
- Current NWCG Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2).

Candidates are required to pass at the “arduous” level for a fire fighter crew member or natural resource worker position.
