My next step in this black and white painting was to destroy the neat image I'd painted so far. I did this by filling a brush with thin white paint and almost flinging it onto the canvas. I swirled it, puddled it, and splashed it to get a random "accidental" look.
When the painting was completely dry, I placed it on the floor of my studio and carefully poured a thin black paint into the white areas in a swirling pattern. I let the paint puddle and drip as well.
After the black puddles dried, I carefully painted sections in black with a small brush. I stared at the canvas to see what needed to be filled in or painted over, until I was satisfied with the results.
