I think we can all agree: a videographer I am not, but I try. With a large-scale event such as Festas do Povo de Campo Maior, which centres around a massive volume of paper artistry — much of it very detailed work — then photography isn’t really enough to show it properly; this event needs video, too. Photography lends itself more to detail, but video is better at giving a point of reference for size, with the added bonus of sounds and movement. Watch the clips in HD for details!
I made a bunch of videos, but some of them didn’t make the cut. There was one outtake video I had to stop filming partway through once Paulo and I realized Ice was peeing on one of the flower stands! So embarrassing! (I did upload it to Google+, though, so we could relive the embarrassment at any time.)
If you think you hear a lot of Spanish chatter in these videos, it’s because Campo Maior borders the Extremadura Region in Spain (less than 10km away) and this event draws a lot of Spanish visitors. So many, in fact, that some of the signage is in Spanish and I heard more Spanish than Portuguese yesterday. Festas do Povo de Campo Maior attracts visitors from far and wide, but it is very much an Iberian event. Pics forthcoming…
