Hey there fellow Whovians! I know it’s been a while; sorry about that. But some situations had my attention for quite a few months. But now that we’re looking at a new Start with Season Eight well underway, I figure it was high time the Female View came into the picture. So here we go!
Departure of Matt Smith
I will admit, that I didn’t say anything about Christmas 2013 episode which was Matt Smith’s last real hoorah. Overall? I was pretty impressed. It even to the point had brought me to tears. To show the possible “end” to the doctor that we were all knowing and loving- not knowing what to expect if it would be done for good? (though we know it wouldn’t – Moffat wouldn’t do that to us..)
And in regards to Matt’s last moments, I have to applaud Moffatt and the crew to let it Begin.. and then end with the last image that the Doctor saw, was the one person he always knew — Amelia Pond. Yes, Ten had his multitude of companions, but in the end.. was changed alone.. but With Eleven.. he Started with pond.. and it ended with pond.
All in all.. Eleven became our best friend throughout the seasons he graced our screen, and where he will be missed; there is no reason we cannot revisit his amazing brilliance as we did with Nine, and then Ten
The Break.. the Wait!!!
I think the wait between the end of eleven and the start of Twelve was the longest break mentally for many of us Whovians. There was so much going through our minds as we were buzzing and discussing against ourselves what was to be coming our way in august.
An older doctor? What’s Moffatt Thinking? Hey we may get to see a little bit of what it was like during classic who with a twist of todays CGI.. Its not going to be the same without Matt….
In all honesty? I’m looking forward to see the new doctor. When they first re-introduced the doctor back in 2005. they were following the trend of making the Doctor go from old and progressing a bit younger as each regeneration happens. With this new set of regeneration cycle, it seems only fit to try.
Welcome the Chime of Twelve..
Now I know that I’m a bit behind with episodes one and two having already come out from Season Eight.. but better late then never right?
Going into the first few episodes, it’s like going into the start of a new friendship, or a “change” in a friendship that leaves you unsure of where to go. Just like how Clara has been feeling against the new regeneration. Clara wanted what she was used to — HER Doctor(s) that the Impossible Girl was able to save.. How do you deal, or go with someone else that makes you easily question who they truly are? Do you give into Faith… or do you step away?
I was honestly happy that Clara was willing to give the Doctor a chance.. especially after Matt’s one last final few seconds as Eleven to reassure Clara to give into Faith, and try to accept him as he stood before her, as against what he was before.
I’m looking forward to this new season, and I’m willing to keep a positive open mind with Twelve. There is nothing wrong with re-discovery of oneself and this especially goes for the man and his big blue box.
