A BRIEF HISTORY
Amana was first founded in 1934 by George Foerestner and was called The Electrical Equipment Co. They were one of the earliest companies to manufacture walk-in beverage coolers and cold storage lockers, and they even became a supplier of these products to the military during World War II.
In fact, Amana has always been an influential innovator. They have introduced numerous new developments in refrigerators, freezers, microwaves, and cooktops over the years. Their main aim has been making improvements in appliances relevant to residential use.

By now, Amana’s product line has expanded to include air conditioners, furnaces, ranges, range hoods and ventilation systems, dishwashers, washing machines, and dryers. They also offer a variety of home goods.
They have one main website and two smaller sites. One is strictly for their heating and cooling equipment, and the other highlights their kitchen and laundry gadgets.
In 2001, Amana was purchased by Maytag, and it is currently owned by Whirlpool.
