You'll find a lyrical, meditative simplicity in abstract artist Mimi Chen Ting's paintings, but also a playful dance of form and color.
Mimi's work has been exhibited widely, from Taos, New Mexico to Hong Kong, China. She has shown her work at the LOKA Art Space and The Harwood Museum of Art at the University of New Mexico in Taos. In 2012 her painting "Wendy's Groove" was in Taos Contemporary, an invitational co-curated by Cecily Cullen and Stephanie Grilli.
Here's what Mimi says about her art: "I do not work with my back to the world. I am curious and unafraid, allowing and embracing all complexities that flow and ebb into my consciousness. The process is one of distillation and clarification, just as in living, sorting through, stripping away, and arriving at only that which is essential. My work space is sacred ground. Work is my nirvana." You can find out more about her process on her art website.
As reviewer J. Pointer said in Taos Magazine, "(Ting) uncovers the grandeur in tranquility."
