Indie rock foursome The Montreals hails from ‘down under,’ but is certainly an up-and-coming indie rock band worthy of your ears.

The Montreals is made up of  Stefan (vocals, guitar), Angus (vocals, guitar), Declan (bass) and Graham (drums). Their sound revisits British rock legends of the past, noting a mixture of subtle jazz notes. Think The Strokes meets Two Door Cinema Club.

Clubs have a consistent way of sneaking into the band’s influences, inspiration and lyrical content as well. Their debut EP, “Indigo Club” will be released Oct. 28. The band describes their single as a result of a drunken mess in a swanky bar. “Indigo Club EP looks upon our fumbling early twenties; wrestling with the glamorous and ill-sighted aspects of youth and regret,” said lead singer Stefan.

The Montreals cite The Kooks, Arctic Monkeys and The Jungle Giants as influences. Their bouncy beats and melodic “ooh’s” prove the band’s ability to soon be a singalong and quick to get stuck in your head.

“Indigo Club” was recorded in Adelaide, South Australia- the band’s hometown, mixed by Magoo (The Jungle Giants, Art vs. Science) and mastered by Steve Smart of Studio 301 (British India, Vance Joy).

The Australian indie rock band has shared stages on tour with ALPINE, Andy Bull, Last Dinosaurs and Hey Geronimo. Chances are, a tour is in the works for the guys of The Montreals, following their album release. Take a ride on the Aussie side and get to know this band sooner rather than later.
