Feature Friday: Forebear

Coming together as a mix of genuine LA talent is Forebear, a band with the self proclaimed label, “cinematic dirt rock,” and an intriguing sound to match.  Artfully working to marry the struggles of the outside world with the tortures of our inner selves is the goal of this four-piece group.  Together, Scott Goldbaum (vocals, guitar), Molly Rogers (viola), Mike Mussleman (drums), and Nick Chamian (bass) bring talent they have gained from working with numerous other artists and producers such as Bastille, Kimbra, Keith Urban, and even Randy Jackson.  Their sound and efforts come together rather effortlessly, molding them right into the heart of the indie genre they represent.

Forebear formed in 2014, but their debut LP Good God, produced by Eric Lilavois (Saint Motel, Atlas Genius), is set to release on August 26 of this year.  Lilavois was quite taken with the band, working hard to get them to where they wanted to be both musically–particularly with Rogers’ captivating strings–and emotionally through haunting, truthful lyrics.  Their single, “Delroy Lindo,” is a definite standout, showcasing Forebear’s depth and musical range.  A story of failed love in the promise of the California Dream, “Delroy Lindo” captures just the right amount of heartbreak in its soft, rock sounds.  Have a listen to take a look into the band and see just what is in store with the release of Good God this summer.
