On their Tumblr page, they call themselves “Your Milwaukee Basement Band.” Now I’ve never been to Wisconsin, nor have I ever wanted to (especially after Making a Murderer), but drinking Miller Lite and listening to “synth-pop with real post-punk leanings” in a basement sounds like a pretty good time. Premiering on Clash, “Lean” is a laidback summer jam with something of everything. It begins with a quick n’ quiet guitar riff, which’s later reworked; then comes synth-y drums and a chorus to dance to. Interestingly enough, you also hear hints of 90s Britpop, in the vocals especially. Blonder is recommended for fans of Daywave, Porches (“Lean” was produced by Aaron Maine), and Coast Modern. So do it. Go Blonder.
