Favorite Lippies: Orange

By Thecurlycasualista @curlycasualista
Once upon a time I was terrified of orange lipsticks. I'm not really sure why. Maybe it's their inherent in-your-face brightness (not sure why this was a problem, seeing as my favorite pink is Schiap). Or maybe it was that I wasn't clear how to wear them. With what blush? With what colors? But I can say I've fully jumped on the orange lip trend and I am so happy I did. I can't wait to incorporate these punchy options into my habitually darker fall rotation! Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti - Winner of the "cutest name" award, this is a great entry-level orange. It was, actually, my first orange purchase. It looks obnoxiously bright in the tube (and when I look at myself in the mirror) but the effect is much more subdued than I expected in the pictures. Guess it's not so bright, which makes it perfect for everyday wear. Moisturizing and the perfect mix between opaque color and lip balm, this line from Revlon is a keeper. I need to get more shades. L'Oreal Colour Riche in Volcanic - This is one of two I bought while on the hunt for a good dup for the coveted Tom Ford Wild Ginger. You wouldn't catch me shelling out $50 for a lipstick (oh wait....). Volcanic is actually really great it in it's own right. Bright with red undertones, it has that L'Oreal lipstick smell (anyone else associate that with their mom and/or grandmother like me?) and goes on creamy. There's good color payoff, and it's moisturizing. The lasting power isnt' great, but it's easy to carry around and reapply. And it makes me so happy! Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Kiss Me Coral - This is the other dup for Wild Ginger that I uncovered after extensive internet sleuthing. It is more of a true orange than Volcanic. The formula is a little less creamy and light, and as a result it lasts a bit longer. I really like Revlon lipsticks, as I think they have a great formula, great color range, and staying power. And they're under $10! Tom Ford Lipstick in Wild Ginger - Ah. The orange to end all oranges (in my opinion). Running a little bit red on some, this is one of my favorite lipsticks of all time. It's unlike any other lipstick I've tried. Creamy. Pigmented. Excellent lasting power. A shade that can't be matched (though I think if you actually mixed Kiss Me Coral and Volcanic you'd get pretty close). Tom Ford lipsticks rock my socks. I want to get more. Maybe a nude is next?
