A father-daughter duo from Billings, Montana are in custody for charges of running a drug acquisition and distribution scheme.
Gregory Paul Green, 63, and Brittany Green, 29, allegedly operated out of their home in West End.
The police searched the property on January 3, uncovering a number of illegal drugs and reporting that the suspects had been conducting an anonymous operation on the dark web.
The Greens appear to have run a tight drug distribution scheme from their home that saw them supply drugs throughout the country in exchange for cryptocurrency.
They delivered the drugs to their customers by mail, enabling them to maintain their anonymity.
The Raid and Arrest
Investigations into the Greens' operations began on December 18, after officers from Michigan Customs and Border Patrol intercepted a suspicious package.
The Greens were the intended recipients of the parcel originating from Canada. The package, labeled "organic fitness vitamin," contained approximately 1,500 alprazolam pills, more commonly known as Xanax.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation raided the property on January 3 after their investigation.
According to the affidavit received by the U.S. District Court in Billings, the agents recovered large quantities of numerous drugs including methamphetamine, ketamine, Xanax and carfentanil.
Carfentanil is an opioid that's 10,000 times stronger than morphine and 100 times more potent than fentanyl, a drug that has led to numerous deaths throughout the U.S.
In the suspects' basement, the officers discovered a methamphetamine laboratory whereupon they called the Hazardous Materials Team of the Billings Fire Department to assist in dismantling it.
In the affidavit, FBI Officer Michael Robinson stated that materials uncovered included a 100 pound butane tank, hundreds of feet of glass tubing and other equipment.
The suspects reportedly intended to make glass pipes out of these items.
Additionally, the officers found instructions meant for Brittany Green to prepare the drugs for resale and a package ready for shipping in the suspects' home office containing two Xanax pills and one ounce of methamphetamine.
A computer in Gregory Green's room displayed a dark web page of Xanax sales to clients from different parts of the country while paperwork indicated that the duo used Bitcoin to receive their payments.
The Charges and Prosecution
The prosecution holds compelling evidence against the Greens. Firstly, they were the intended recipients of the suspicious package that contained alprazolam pills.
The police then confiscated several narcotics after searching their home along with uncovering a package ready for mailing and paperwork indicating payment by cryptocurrency.
The FBI conducted an abrupt raid that gave the Greens no time to hide any incriminating evidence.
At the time, there were drugs along with equipment for their preparation in two rooms in the house.
As a result, Brittany had no choice but to confess that she was responsible for purifying the drugs in the basement before reselling them.
The prosecution has concluded that the Greens were running a large-scale drug scheme from their residence.
The two are now facing charges of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute and are currently being held at the detention facility in Yellowstone County.
The Greens are among numerous dark web drug dealers that the authorities have successfully intercepted in recent years.
