The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) have reached a deal in Havana, Cuba with the government of Colombia on land reform.

Negotiations have been going on for 6 months so far and the deal is hoped to be the first of many.

Full details of the deal are not yet public however it will involve the economic and social development of rural areas, and the providing of land to poor farmers living there.

Farc chief negotiator Ivan Marquez said several issues remained unresolved and would be dealt with in later discussions.

There are 6 focal points on the agenda of the negotiations:

Land reform
Political participation
Disarmament
Illicit drugs
Rights of the victims
Peace deal implementation

It will be very interesting to see how these develop and what progress can be made for the poor and working-class Colombians.
