Farao’s Gorgeously Clever Debut Ep [stream]

Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Farao, lives in London but grew up in Norway, and the same alluring beauty of her homeland has been imprinted in her sound. Shadowy and solemn, the clever texturing pulls you in, but Kari Jahnsen’s (Farao) voice is what makes you stay. Employing both modern and antique synthesizers alongside live instrumentation makes for a compelling soundscape, and, the drums being her first love, the rhythmic elements are consistently clean and taut. With enthusiasm and creativity to spare, Jahnsen is in several other bands as bassist and drummer, although Farao is now her priority. A longtime Radiohead fan, Farao, crafts electronic ambient folk both melancholy and thoughtful. Her four-song self-titled EP was released last month and each song is as delicately beguiling as the last. Listen to “Skin” above and hear the magnificence of Farao for yourself.
