Fancy Nancy Party

By Vixenmade @vixenMade
How was everyone's long weekend!?
Ours was wonderful!  I truly enjoyed the whole weekend, especially when we got to celebrate my little girl's 5th birthday!  She, of course, was counting down the days until her birthday and I think she had a great time and loved seeing everyone at her party.
That said, I thought I'd give you the party details of her Fancy Nancy themed birthday party.
If you're not familiar with 'Fancy Nancy' books, it's basically about a little girl who loves everything fancy and posh!  Let's get started!
First of all, we decided to do an outdoor party this year.  It was such a warm summer, I figured the weather would be great and the kids would have a blast playing and doing activities outside.
What happened?
We got rained out.  Yep.  Our worst fear for the day of the party..
My daughter was even praying about the weather!
Fortunately, the kids were able to enjoy the set up for a short while until we started to really get the rain.
So here are some of the shots we did get of the party (you may even notice the wetness due to the drizzle we started getting).
As the guests arrived, they were able to go and get fancy at the 'dress up table'.  The place to adorn yourself with boas and pearls and ascots for the boys.

We included the outdoor chalkboard by writing a happy birthday message and adding some ribbon garland. We also set out a table with chalk for the kids to play with.

The ribbon garland included all the colors for the party: shades of purple, white, pink and orange.

The kids table included the hats (which were to be decorated later) and feather plume pens for each child.

Everyone got their own seat with a framed place card.

The birthday girl was ecstatic at how 'fancy' everything was.

The beverage table with coffee and orange punch.

The 'fancy' plastic cups.

The dessert table was a little different this time.  I used a desk/hutch I found at a thrift store.  I painted and distressed the knobs and gave it a good clean.  That's it!  I love an easy furniture makeover!

The cake was made from my ever talented sister from Candy & Cake.

Polkadot teapot sugar cookies.

Color coordinated licorice bites.

Dreamsicle pudding parfaits.

Vanilla cupcakes with vanilla buttercream.

Strawberry Cheesecake jellybeans.

I wanted to use teacups for the girls, but I couldn't find any within my budget.  There was 8 kids in total and spending $4 each was a little much for one event, so I cheaped out and bought espresso cups (in a pack of 8) and decorated them with washi tape along the bottoms to pretty them up.

Other candies were yogurt covered blueberries and grape sour candies.

Marshmallow pops.

I found a quote that I thought was appropriate that I created a printable with for the table as well.  Stay tuned for the freebie!

Once the kids got 'fancy', we had some fancy nancy coloring and activity sheets (found here) for them to do.

They loved using their feather plume pens.

And the boys looked especially dapper in their ascots and hats!

Like I said, we got rained out, so we all moved indoors for the remainder of the party. We continued on with the hat decorating.  Lots of fake and fabric flowers, fabrics, ribbons, feathers and rhinestones were used to make their hats their own.

After a quick game of 'Pass the Teapot' (which is just like 'hot potato' except with a play set teapot), the kids went back to crafting and created some beaded necklaces.

The kids took a quick break to play dress up then we did the gift opening and finished off with some cake.

Aside from the rain, the kids had fun, but most importantly the birthday girl was happy!

Hope you all have a great week!
