Fall/Winter Skin Tips

By Shanlakes

1. Avoid taking long, hot showers. This deeply dries out the skin and can cause fine lines to form as well as breakouts.
2. Always use SPF: You are always getting UVA/UVB rays...especially in the winter. However, this is a waste of skin damage considering you aren't even getting tan from these rays. Avoid this by using a facial moisturizer every morning that contains an SPF.
3. Have an active sex life. It's true! Having sex increases your blood circulation which leads to healthy skin. Blood circulation to the face pumps oxygen to the skin and eliminates toxins.
4. Drink lots of water, and eat a lot of fruits and foods with antioxidants.
5. Get a facial/microdermabrasion. This is my absolute favorite combo. I get one each season, so in other words 4 times a year. It is a pretty much a reset for your skin. Microdermabrasion is a spa treatment (unlike the more serious one-dermabrasion) that takes off the first layer of your skin. It is critical to trigger the growth of healthy skin cells, ward off aging, and eliminates damage that you've done up to that point. Not to mention facials are one of the most relaxing treatments EVER.
6. Clean your makeup brushes every few weeks.
7. Sleep on your back. Also use a silk pillow.
8. Clean the screen on your iPhone daily. This is one of the most common causes of breakouts. Dirt and bacteria accumulate on your phone and then you put it directly on to your face.
9. Too much dairy consumption is not good for your skin.
10.  Drink wine- Wine contains a powerful antioxidant called resveratrol (found in red grape skins) which is known to prevent lines, wrinkles, and other skin problems caused by the environment.
