Fall Trends 2012. {and just in case you were wondering… yes, it’s still Summer.}

{Tory Burch hit the nail head on with these very “Lady Like” Ensembles. I absolutely love the metallic plaid paired with the houndstooth. Makes me want to break out the peacoat and gloves!}

Alright so Fall 2012 Fashion week has come and gone… I know, It’s the middle of July, and yes it is still Summer. But retail stores and runways everywhere are always one step ahead of the game. When you are in search of that perfect swimsuit, the racks are mostly empty and the stores are in transition for back to school and Fall merchandise. Yay for us. It’s frustrating, but after spending over ten years in retail, I will say, I am quite used to it by now. With that said… According to Fashion magazines everywhere these are the Fall 2012 Trends you don’t want to miss!

First up, Metallic Fabrics. {No longer just for New Years Eve, this shiny fabric was everywhere at NYFW, houndstooth and tweed was as well}.

I don’t know about you, but I’m not a runway model, nor do I dress like one… but I do like to incorporate pieces that are runway inspired. An easy way to do this is to take “the runway piece”, and pair with something less flashy. An example would be to style a Metallic Jacket with something more casual like a denim bottom. Or wear a flashy knee length skirt, with a very simple White woven. This will create the appearance of being on trend without looking over done… {or like a disco ball}.

High Slit Skirts. Just because you are a mom does not mean you can’t pull off a high slit skirt. You can wear a more casual version of one with boots or opaque tights… and not look like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. I would recommend this trend for women with shorter legs as well. It will help create this illusion of longer legs. I love this one and this one.

Burgundy, Burgundy Everywhere! You guessed it, that is the “it” color this fall. Suits are a hot item as well. Love the Tory Burch ones pictured below.

Asian Inspired Dresses, are all the rage this fall. I loooove this one!

Key pieces to incorporate into Fall 2012 from your mom wardrobe from this past year would be anything Military Inspired {like pea coats, blazers, trousers or jacket}, Sequined or Metallic Fabrics will continue, as well as the many shades of Orange, that have become so popular this past year.

Now get out there and enjoy the heat! It will be gone before you know it!
