I have a confession to make. Decorating my home for fall was really difficult this year. Well, every year. Why? It's still summer weather here in California. Since living in California I have noticed that I don't get that cozy fall feeling until late November. Yup, about the day before I realize it's Thanksgiving. But I was really excited to be invited to participate in a Fall Home Tour with 34 other bloggers. It was great motivation to make my home feel a little more fall. Even if my mind isn't there yet! So if you are visiting from another tour, welcome! I'm so glad you stopped by....
Let's start off at the front door!
I am so happy with my front porch! I decorated it once, and then I redid the whole thing! Yes, I'm that kind of crazy! But it just wasn't quite right. Can I get an Amen from my other design crazy sisters?
Now it's just how I envisioned it. Farm fresh and vintage with a hint of glam.
And it gave me a reason to bust out my cowgirl boots from the back of my closet! Yee haw!
I carried the theme throughout my home. Keeping everything in the same color family always give your decor a great flow.
I did a few simple swap outs on my Vintage Market Table to update for fall. I changed out succulents in the clay pot for feathers and a jar of seashells for a pumpkin. Of course, I had to keep a few shells around!
And oh, the mantel!
I love how my mantel turned out. I feel like I should lead any guests that enter my home this fall to my mantel. I'll casually prop my elbow on the corner while we chat, like it's totally a normal thing to do in my house. But I don't want anyone to miss it!
It has everything I love! A chalkboard, old fence posts, music sheets, seashells and boxwood.
I went slightly less farm and a bit more glam for my kitchen/family room. And I kept it pretty simple. I spend most of my time in here and I don't want to have to relocate decor to be able to prepare a meal or see the tv. Important stuff!
Ok, maybe I have a little bit of farm fresh in here.
But my centerpiece is simple. I just swapped out seashells and added white pumpkins. It's narrow and doesn't need to be moved when we eat dinner.
I found the giant book at a barn sale I went to over the weekend. Just in time to make the perfect base for my fall coffee table display.
I try to incorporate these sand dollars into everything. I think sand dollars are my favorite seashell. But these are extra special because I collected them at the beach on a family camping trip a few summers ago.
Don't you love the cotton branches? I think they add such a nice touch of fall. A bit more unexpected than fall leaves.
I flanked the tv with sparkly mercury glass pumpkins, a few more books and ironstone bowls filled with straw and sand dollars.
And of course, I have one more chalkboard! And that's all folks! Hope you enjoyed my tour. Isn't it fun to snoop in other people's homes?! Don't worry, there's more Fall Home Tour snooping to do!
