Fall Foliage:Easy Decorating Ideas

By Simone Design Blog @HomeSpire

I’m finding it a little difficult to believe that the official start to fall is just 12 days away when the temperature is currently reading 90 degrees! But the signs are there: the leaves are slowly falling and beginning to show their fall colors. With all these fresh, colorful leaves steadily covering my deck and patio, I’m inspired to think of ways to decorate using them. I’ve gathered images to give you some design ideas on how you can use them in your existing home decor.

Tuck in some leaves into a twig wreath for a colorful and simple look.

Take advantage of your trees and cut a branch or two for a table centerpiece. Think of it as an inexpensive alternative to buying a floral arrangement.

Create a dramatic effect with branches of leaves.

Add some texture and color to your glass candleholders. It’s simple: just press some really pretty leaves between two books overnight and then hot-glue them to the glass. Imagine the beautiful glow you’ll get when the candles are lit!

Here’s another idea: layer some leaves at the bottom of your candles. If you are concerned about this being a fire hazard, use battery-operated candles.

I love this idea for an outdoor space. Place some floating candles and leaves in a beautiful candle holder or platter.

Decorate a vase with a multitude of flowers and twigs. By staggering their heights you’ve created an illusion of depth.

If you’re entertaining during the fall, use clean, dry, colorful leaves  as part of your tablescape by inserting one into each napkin.

Mount an array of pressed fall leaves on colorful backgrounds.

These are just a few ideas for decorating using fresh fall foliage. Do you have a favorite way to decorate with them?
