It’s been a whirlwind visit so far. Greetje was here Friday and Saturday (she’s sent me some better photos which I’ll download and share soon).
Sunday morning I got took a stroll while the city was still waking up…
It’s Dior, Darling
Sunday afternoon, Josephine arrived from the south of France, and we set right out for the Dior Exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs.
I took loads of photos which I’ll share in a separate post once I’m home, but will say a) if you can get there, by all means GO see it and b) buy tickets in advance. Even with advance tickets we stood in line for about 30 minutes…the line for those without tickets looked to be a couple of hours long. It’s an amazing, large, and dazzling exhibit.
I Love Paris When It Drizzles

The weather turned cool and blustery yesterday. I decided to wear this cashmere sweater which I’d just purchased at Comptoir des Cotonniers.* It’s an ochre color, a little more golden and less orange than it looks here. Between the weather forecast and the guy at the front desk who said, “no, it’s not going to rain today,” I decided to leave my umbrella behind. Sure enough, as we were waiting for our bus, the drops began falling. By the time we were waiting in line on the sidewalk, it was raining steadily, and I was rather damp by the time we got inside. (Dried off quickly once in the heated interior, fortunately.)
It had stopped by the time we left the building, but the sky still looked threatening so we took a quick stroll through the Jardin des Tuileries before catching the metro back to the hotel. I’ve learned my lesson, and won’t be leaving my hotel without the umbrella, regardless of what the forecast says.
Josephine and I are heading out the door to make the most of our time here. More soon!

*Comptoir des Cotonniers is one of my favorite French brands. Sadly, they don’t sell online in the U.S. I’ve linked to some of their pieces available second-hand. If you are in France and spot one of their shops, it’s definitely worth a browse.
