I will be honest and say that I wasn't aware of the company Fake Tattoos but after hearing from Ana and taking a look at their website, I was very much looking forward to giving them a try. Fake Tattoos is a Scandinavian temporary tattoo retailer which operates worldwide, offering a huge selection of designs, sizes and colours which can act as both inspiration for future tattoo ideas or as a 'trial run' for potential tattoos. I was very kindly sent two temporary tattoos to try out, the quote pictured below and also the word courage in Scrabble style tiles which I stupidly forgot to photograph when I was going a bit snap happy. I decided to go with the quote tattoo and thought it would look perfect on the upper arm.
For anyone who has had experience with temporary tattoos as a child, whether that be with a cartoon character or some snazzy quote which was probably all the rage 10 years ago, application of the Fake Tattoos is exactly the same and is honestly so easy to do. Simply remove the plastic sheet covering the tattoo, press the white paper on the area you would like the image to be transferred to with the temporary tattoo design facing the skin, wet a face cloth and press against the paper for around 30 seconds and then gently peel back the backing paper. Easy peasy!
Pictured above is the temporary tattoo that I had some fun with (excuse the squinty application, that was my bad) and I was honestly so impressed with how it turned out in the end. I think the kid in me was expecting it to come out a bit blotchy and bitty like the temporary tattoos I messed around with years ago but the design came out perfectly with no flaws in the design or missing pieces which I was very chuffed about. The temporary tattoos are listed as having a staying power of around 3-5 days and in my experience the tattoo lasted over 6 days with absolutely no fading, however I decided to remove it myself as I am attending a Christening this weekend which means I'm sure it would have lasted many more days given the chance.
All in all I have been super impressed with both the service and products offered by Fake Tattoos and this experience has really been an eye-opener into the world of tattoos, for me at least. The huge range of temporary tattoos available on the website are all reasonably priced, with the price dependent on overall size and design requirements, and the company also offer a custom tattoo design service for any individuals or business looking to share their brand in a very unique way. I won't say this experience has changed my mind about possibly having a tattoo in the future as it's still not something I would be looking to do, but it has been something fun and different to take part in and it is a pleasure to be sharing the work of Fake Tattoos with all of you. For all you tattoo fans, you really should go have a look at the website and hopefully you will be inspired too!
