A couple of days ago, I was looking through a communication principle courseware, a core course in Electrical and Electronics engineering. I came across some basic communication principles and its real time applications to modern day life. Deeply engrossed, ruminating and searching for answers, I realised what seems to be the most effective and fastest wireless communication modes we’ve got.
You can ask me what this is. I will confidently tell you it’s prayer. Confused?  Have got all the answers to your questions in this column. I might sound simplistic and naïve, you might take my belief as inexplicable, it’s just my opinion and this is what I came up with.

Generally, communication experts talk of multi-path fading, interference of signals, modulation, demodulation and transmission channels like air and light. Analysing this comparatively, I realised all these are heavily represented in prayer. Christians and churchgoers engage in prayer daily but most times, there seem to be a delay or often times no response at all. In fact, statistics has it that out of every 20 Christians who pray, only one shares the corresponding testimony. Alarming isn’t it? I must say that the major cause of this “fading and interference” in our prayer is the absence of a modulating wave “a multiplier.” What does this even mean? Every communication process involves a transmitter, receiver and a multiplier to modulate the transmitted signal for effective decoding.

Allegorically, let’s see how this applies to our daily communication with God. “Tweetgram” posted a picture quote on Instagram recently. It said, “Faith is forwarding all issues to God.” Believe me that’s exactly what faith is. Suppose we need to ask God for certain needs or better still we are forwarding all our prayer request to him and we desire speedy answers as well. It becomes imperative that we can only do this by the effect of the multiplier called faith. The chapter eleven of the book of Hebrews recorded faith as the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. In empyrean communication, we all need the multiplying effect of faith on our prayer signals.

Whether we adopt the Lord’s Prayer or we use specially designed prayer bulletins, there is need for the altering effect of faith to modulate the strength, amplitude and frequency of our prayer wave as it ascend to heaven. Prayer shouldn’t be just the rapturous chants of prayer requests alone, it should be a communication with God accompanied with the needed believe towards getting answers. Faith isn’t in-built or hereditary. It must be cultivated by paying attention to what God says as well. The bible records it that Faith comes by hearing, and Hearing through the word of God.

Finally, the “Apostle of faith,” late Smith Wigglesworth said and I quote, “I saw that God wants us so badly that he has made the condition as simple as he possibly could, only believe.” We all have to possess an unflinching and ruthless faith in Christ. When we do this, we are prodding him to communicate our answers back to us.
