Pornographic content and websites related to it were banned in India in the year 2015 itself. In this series, in the month of September last year, the government had banned 67 such websites, on which adult content was being published. While the government is banning sites with porn content, some people are now spreading such content through social media platforms. This issue has been highlighted in the latest report by Entrackr. The report details how Facebook has become a new haven for pornographic content publishers. Clicking on the Facebook Watch section opens up a flood of adult content. Some such accounts have been highlighted in the report, which are openly sharing such videos on Facebook. These people are publishing these videos as shorts, live broadcasts and full videos.

According to the report, a Facebook account named Viral Videos livestreams porn videos through different websites on its page. More than 14,000 people are following this account. Apart from this, such videos are being shared by creating fake Facebook accounts in the name of different girls.
Facebook Policy
According to Facebook adult policy, “the display of nudity or sexual activity is strictly restricted on platform”. According to the Facebook Adult Policy, sexual activity and nudity are strictly prohibited on their platform. However, still Facebook has not taken any action on such videos till now.
Last year 67 porn websites were blocked
The Government of India is continuously taking strict action on port content. In the month of September last year, the central government had issued instructions to internet service provider companies to block 67 porn websites. These sites were banned under IT Rule 2021 (IT Act 2021). Under IT Rule 2021, the content promoting nudity can be removed by the companies that save its data or host the data.
