According to the Coconut Development Authority, an income of Rs.19,131 million was earned from the export of coconut-related products in March 2024.
This is stated in the monthly report released by the Coconut Development Authority on income from coconut related products and exports. The report on the export of coconut-related products during the month of March 2024 was handed over by the chairman of the Coconut Development Authority, Professor Roshan Perera, to the Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries, Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera.
Accordingly, in March 2024, the amount of molded coir exported from Sri Lanka for horticulture is 38,065 metric tons. The income earned is 5725 million rupees. Compared to March 2023, this amount is a growth of 29 percent.
Export of Coconut Shell Activated Carbon Export 5,707 metric tons compared to 2023, the revenue earned in March 2024 is 4,430 million rupees. It is a percentage increase of 32 percent.
Also, an amount of 3122 million rupees has been earned by the export of coconut milk in the last month of March. The amount of coconut milk exported during the month of March was 7,059 metric tons. It is a 49 percent increase compared to March 2023, says the Coconut Development Authority.
Rs.2,378 million earned in the month of March by exporting desiccated coconuts. The quantity of desiccated coconut exported during that month was 3592 metric tons. Its growth is 30 percent.
Apart from this, the export of powdered coconut milk has also increased in the last month. The income earned is 1587 million rupees. The amount of powdered coconut milk exported was 1153 metric tons, a growth of 93 percent compared to March 2023.
The export of coconut cream has also increased in the last March. The income earned is 1,390 million rupees. The amount of coconut cream exported is 2,619 metric tons. That number shows an 88 percent growth compared to March 2023.
Apart from this, the export of coconut oil has also increased and the income earned by it is 539 million rupees. 767 metric tons of coconut oil has been exported and its growth is 84 percent compared to March 2023.
The Coconut Development Authority, which says that exports have also increased due to the increase in the coconut harvest in Sri Lanka, states that it is a victory for the country to be able to earn an income of 19,131 million rupees due to the increase in the export of coconut-related products in the month of March.
