Export Revenue in June Rises to Rs. 411.70 Bn

Sri Lanka’s total export revenue for June 2024 has risen to Rs.411.70 billion (US$ 1,354.32 million), continuing to stabilize at a higher level.

According to the Export Development Board (EDB), the revenue from merchandise exports amounted to Rs.313.40 billion, while service exports generated Rs.98.30 billion. Preliminary data released by Sri Lanka Customs indicates that in June 2024, the performance of merchandise exports reached US$ 1,031.2 million, reflecting a 2.58% increase compared to June 2023. Additionally, service export revenue for June 2024 saw a significant rise of 39.05% compared to the same month last year.

The EDB attributes this growth primarily to increased earnings from the export of apparel and textiles, tea, rubber-based products, coconut-based products, food and beverages, spices, and concentrates.

Compared to May 2024, June 2024’s export performance improved by 1.97%. The estimated value of service exports for June 2024 was US$ 323.13 million, which is 39.05% higher than in June 2023.

As a result, the total exports for June 2024, including both merchandise and services increased by 9.42% compared to the same period in 2023, recording a value of US$ 1,354.32 million.

The highest export revenue for Sri Lanka was generated from the United States, followed by significant contributions from the United Kingdom, India, Italy, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, France, Canada, China, Australia and Belgium, according to the EDB.
