The counties of Hancock, Harrison, and Jackson are home to one of Mississippi's top tourist attractions, the Gulf Coast.   With miles of coastline and enough beach and sea activities to make travelers of all ages excited, you may just find that your time in the Gulf Coast is not enough.  You do, after all, have to make time to fit in all of the annual events that are put on throughout the year and eating at some amazing restaurants along the way too! Events Galore in the Gulf Coast
When you combine good weather and a coastal locale you almost always seem to get hundreds of festivals that pop up as a result.  The Mississippi Gulf Coast is no different and no matter what time of the year you plan to visit you are likely to find great events that showcase the regions best music, cuisine, attractions, and more!
Coming up are events like the 21st Annual Crawfish Music Festival, a three-day event at the end of April that mixes tons of great music artists like Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery with eating regional cuisine featuring the amazing crawfish.  New for 2013, and also coming up this weekend, is the first annual Gulf Coast Harbor Fest featuring a BBQ cook off from some of the regions best chefs.

What can you say about over 60 miles of shoreline and over 26 miles of beaches along the Gulf Coast?   Well, far more than this one blog post can contain!   The perk about the Mississippi Coast is that it has a long chain of barrier islands off the coast that helps break the waves and produce gentle shorelines perfect for water lovers of all ages looking for affordable family vacations.
Want a quiet beach away from the action?  Try Long Beach outside of Biloxi in a quiet residential neighborhood.  Looking for excitement and being in with the beach dwellers? Many beaches just down the road are built up with infrastructure to handle the crowds.  Just hop on a Coast Area Transit Authority bus and you'll be on your way to another great beach within minutes.  But if you just cannot stand calm waves and want real surf, take the Ship Island ferry out to West Ship Island for the day and experience the sea the way it is meant to be. Get Off the Coast and Into the Sea
The coastline of Mississippi is one thing that is a must see, but where there is coast also comes the wide open sea.  So while it is tempting to spend all day and night relaxing on the beach with friends and family, hop on one of the many charter boats and head out on an Ecotour to go bird watching, dolphin spotting, or even just rent a kayak and spend a day rowing around seeing what you can find.   Looking for the extreme of must-do Mississippi?  You'll definitely want to hop aboard a real live shrimping boat where you can quite literally head out to sea and return with that nights dinner.
Whether you want to head out to sea or just spend some time on the beach, the Mississippi Gulf Coast has enough for visitors of all ages.  No matter what your definition of a perfect day is, you'll likely be finding it here.
