You may think that The Grand Canyon gorges and the amazing sight from the top is all there is to a visit to the canyon. However, for those looking to get more from their trip, there are a whole host of activities you can try while you’re there. In fact, you could spend a lot of time at this beautiful location without running out of things to do.
Grand Canyon Village
Probably the best way to enter the Grand Canyon park is through the Grand Canyon Village. For this reason, it can get extremely busy at peak times in the summer and fall. The main reason for the high number of people here is that Grand Canyon Village is home to the Yavapai Point. It has the best view of the canyon, and so attracts many visitors. The village is also a good place to find lodgings if you aren’t keen on camping. As well as the view, you can also visit the Grand Canyon Railway, which is the arrival place of those coming by train. The North RimIf you want to have a little adventure and like hiking then The North Rim is just the place for you. It has a reputation for its rugged and isolated trails and lack of facilities. For this reason, it isn’t hugely popular with the mainstream tourists, which might be just what you want. Because of the rugged terrain and the lack of facilities, you’ll need to be an experienced hiker and have the appropriate equipment to make it safe. However, you’ll be able to see some stunning views and amazing scenery while you walk among these lonely trails. Bright Angel TrailThe Bright Angel Trail is a steep path that starts at Bright Angel Lodge in the Grand Canyon village and winds its way up to Plateau Point. From there, you can get some great views of the river. However it isn’t for the faint of heart. The trail is six miles long in one direction, and it’s strongly advised that you don’t attempt to make the whole trail there and back in one day. You should also take plenty of water as some of the facilities along the way only supply water seasonally. If you’re visiting the canyon as part of your American road trip, you should look out for the most reliable used carsonline before you set off, and fill the trunk with all of the camping gear you’ll need. You can get some great pictures along the way and you’ll see some truly breath-taking views when you reach Plateau Point. These are just a few of the great activities you can do while visiting the Grand Canyon. You can take the trails by mules that will make the journey quicker, and you get to feel like those pioneers from the wild west. You can also try the overnight mule rides that go to Plateau Point and then travel on to the South Kaibab Trail which leads you back to the start.
